Karina Jesson is a Vancouver-based Director of Photography with experience in narrative films, commercials, documentary and music videos. 
Using her background in both lighting and camera department, she strives to merge technical and emotional elements to help effectively tell stories of underrepresented minorities in the film community. She strives to help directors and creatives who are often pushed down feel heard. Karina is driven by a deep-rooted passion for raw and innovative storytelling, showcasing minorities on screen, and moreover, supporting them in technical positions on set. 
Karina's work has been screened at festivals such as TIFF Next Wave, Sundance Asia, Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, Whistler Film Festival, and more. Her most recent short film "Shallots and Garlic" is nominated for Best Cinematography Short Drama at the 2023 Leo Awards.
