Karina Jesson is a Vancouver-based Director of Photography who shoots a variety of mediums, such as narrative films, commercials, documentary and music videos.
Using her background in both lighting and camera department, she strives to merge technical and emotional elements to help effectively tell stories of underrepresented and fresh stories in the film community. She strives to help directors and creatives who are often pushed down feel heard. Karina is driven by a passion for raw and honest storytelling, moving the camera in innovative ways, and creating inclusive set environments and crews.
Karina's work has been screened at festivals such as TIFF Next Wave, Sundance Asia, Vancouver Gender Equity Media Festival, Whistler Film Festival, and more. Her most recent short film "Shallots and Garlic" was nominated for Best Cinematography Short Drama at the 2023 Leo Awards.
